Thyroid Nodule Ablation: (Treatment without Open surgery)
Microwave ablation is a minimally invasive procedure done by Interventional Radiologist used to treat benign thyroid nodules, which are abnormal growths of thyroid tissue. During the procedure, a thin probe is inserted directly into the nodule, and microwave energy is used to heat and destroy the targeted tissue. This technique is often used for nodules that cause symptoms such as difficulty swallowing or breathing, or for those that are causing cosmetic concerns.
Ablation is done by Interventional Radiologist with help of Ultrasound scanning. The treatment takes 30 to 60 min. It is a day care treatment. Patient can go home same day. Recovery is very fast, and Patient can resume routine activities soon.
