Active Bleeding Control - Guru Campaign
India has the largest population of children in the world, and about 165 children die every day in India due to unintentional injuries. A mapping of road traffic injuries shows that 88% of all child fatalities occurred within a 250-meter walking distance of schools. Only 50% of the schools have expected safety standards in Bengaluru. 48% of school teachers have poor knowledge of injuries in children. Hence, there is an urgent need to empower the community to save lives occurring due to injuries, especially in school settings.
Active Bleeding Control – The ABC program was launched as a multi-partner collaboration to train, empower, and equip the community to act as first responders to reduce the mortality due to bleeding from road traffic injuries (RTI). The ABC program has trained 1076 volunteers in Hyderabad saving more than 163 RTI victims' lives, and 537 students and teachers in Hyderabad to become ABC trainers (ABC gurus). These students and teachers have trained their families and neighbors under guidance with a multiplier effect, creating a pool of 2724 citizens ready to serve the community.
We are committed to empowering students and teachers across the schools and colleges in Bengaluru as part of the ABC-Guru campaign. We invite you to be part of this campaign, “Be the Help untill the Help Arrives” The ABC-Guru campaign will train students from Grade 8 and above, college students, teachers, general public to learn the six steps of the ABC program and attain proficiency in these skills, and in turn train 4 further volunteer and build the community to be First responders to road traffic injuries.
We invite everyone to be proficient as ABC-Gurus and serve the community.
