Nerve blocks are pain-numbing medicine injections that block the nerve's pain sensation. Examples: A dentist gives a nerve block in the jaw to conduct a dental procedure; An anaesthetist gives a nerve block injection to help a patient undergo surgery without feeling pain; A pregnant woman may be given a nerve block injection in the back to ease the labour pain.
