Since its inception, this programme has carved a niche as one of the most distinguished training platforms in nephrology across the region.

Two theses by the trainees garnered special commendations as outstanding from the National Board. Additionally, trainees have presented oral papers and posters at state, national, and international nephrology conferences. Notably:
• A Best Paper Award at the Indian Society of Organ Transplantation.
• Back-to-back Best Paper Awards in Transplantation and Dialysis at the NAK meetings of 2023 and 2024.
• First and Second Positions in scientific poster presentations at the 2024 NAK meeting a rare and commendable feat.

• A state-of-the-art 35-bed Dialysis Unit offering therapies like hemodiafiltration, expanded hemodialysis, and more.
• Expertise in critical care nephrology, including CRRT, SLED, hemoperfusion, plasmapheresis, and membrane adsorption therapy for sepsis and toxins.
• Advanced peritoneal dialysis setups, encompassing automated peritoneal dialysis and CAPD.
• Pediatric Dialysis: Comprehensive care tailored to pediatric nephrology needs.
• A robust transplant programme that spans live, deceased, ABO-incompatible, swap, and combined liver-kidney transplants, including robotic-assisted transplants—the only centre in North Kerala offering robotic-assisted transplantation.
Mastery in Procedures
Residents gain hands-on experience and mastery in:
• USG-guided and Cath lab-guided dialysis catheter insertions, including complex vascular access placements.
• Guided native and allograft renal biopsies, as well as PD catheter placements and salvage techniques.
• POCUS training specific to renal health and fluid status monitoring
The programme also facilitates collaboration with interventional radiology and vascular surgery departments, further enriching the residents' exposure and expertise.
