Prostatectomy
The prostate gland is present below the urinary bladder in men. Urinating becomes problematic if it becomes enlarged.
Prostatectomy is the surgical process of removing the prostate gland. Prostatectomy is usually done to treat prostate cancer or benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).
- The types of surgeries include:
- Traditional open prostatectomy
- Radical Robotic prostatectomy
- Open radical prostatectomy.
During the surgery, anaesthesia is given. Post-surgical care involves pain-killing medicines and a urinary catheter for ten days.
