A central venous line is a procedure by a specialist doctor under GA or conscious sedation to minimize discomfort. The IV or catheter is inserted into the vein by an opening in the neck, upper chest, or groin area.
A peripheral venous line(mini catheter) is inserted into the wrist, elbow vein, the back of the wrist, foot, or scalp, depending upon the most prominent vein. The catheter helps to transfer medications and fluids to the patient's bloodstream directly.
