Mitral / Aortic Balloon Valvuloplasty
The mitral valve is the swinging door between the heart's atria and ventricles. Any narrowing or anatomical issues can disrupt blood flow within the heart and cause it to back up in the lungs. When medications do not improve valve condition, a balloon valvuloplasty is done to place a balloon stent to open the narrowed valve and improve blood circulation between the heart chambers.
