Intracranial pressure monitoring
In cases of stroke, brain/head trauma, and brain bleeds, measuring the intracranial pressure is essential, as increased IC Pressure has shown worsened treatment outcomes. In addition, high intracranial pressure causes lower oxygen supply to the brain and carries the risk of brain hernia. Until recently, the most used method was placing a monitor after brain surgery, known as Ventricular external drainage. Still, new, less invasive keyhole ICP monitor surgery methods are being used with better outcomes and faster healing time.
