Microvascular Dysfunction Study
Why and When It Is Recommended
This test is performed for patients who continue to experience chest pain despite a normal angiogram. It helps identify blockages or dysfunction in the microscopic small blood vessels of the heart that are too small to be seen on a standard angiogram.
How It Is Done
The procedure is similar to a routine angiogram. A thin pressure- and flow-measuring wire is inserted into the coronary (heart) blood vessels to assess how well the microvasculature is functioning.
