Why and When It Is Recommended
It is recommended for smaller blood vessels or sites where a permanent stent is not optimal. In such cases, the blocked segment is treated using a drug-coated (medicated) balloon, which delivers medication to the vessel wall to prevent re-narrowing — avoiding the need to leave a stent behind.
