Dr.  Shyam Sunder is a renowned Cardiologist. Presently he is working as Senior Cardiologist at Aster RV, Bangalore.Dr.Shyam Sunder holds an MBBS from Kurnool Medical College, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, India (1979-1985), along with an MD in Pediatrics (1988-1991) and a DNB in Pediatrics (1988-1991), all from the same institution. He also obtained a DM in Cardiology from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India (1992-1995). Dr. Sunder has accumulated over 37 years of extensive experience.

Work Experience

Dr. Sunder is a highly accomplished and dedicated medical professional with a diverse and extensive background in the field of cardiology.Dr. Sunder commenced his professional journey with a rotating internship at Government General Hospital, Kurnool, from 1984 to 1985, followed by a residency in Cardiology at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, from 1991 to 1992. He then assumed the role of Assistant Professor in Cardiology at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, from 1996 to 1999. Subsequently, he served as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist from 1999 to 2007 at various esteemed hospitals including Wockhardt Hospital, Mallya Hospital, Fortis Hospital, Agadi Hospital, and Lakeside Hospital in Bangalore. Later, he held the position of Chief Cardiologist from 2007 to 2024 at Sagar Hospital, Bannerghatta Road, Bangalore.

Dr. Sunder’s specialized skills encompass patient care and management in both the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) and outpatient clinics. He is proficient in diagnostic cardiac catheterization and interventions, including procedures such as PTCA (Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty), PTA (Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty), and Balloon Valvotomies. In addition to this, he has expertise in pediatric catheterizations and interventions, covering conditions like ASD (Atrial Septal Defect), VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect), and PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) device closures. Furthermore, Dr. Sunder is experienced in performing pacemaker, ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator), and CRT (Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy) implantations. His skill set also extends to peripheral angioplasty and stenting, including the utilization of stent grafts for aortic aneurysms.
