Nerve Conduction Studies – NCS.
Nerve conduction studies assess how electrical signals travel through peripheral nerves. They are commonly used to evaluate numbness, tingling, weakness, nerve pain and suspected nerve compression.
The test can help identify whether a nerve is functioning normally and provide information about the location and type of nerve damage.
NCS may assist in evaluating conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, ulnar neuropathy and certain inflammatory nerve disorders.
The findings are interpreted alongside neurological examination and the patient's symptoms.
