Dr. Girish Warrier

Dr Girish Warrier is a highly accomplished Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon with more than 23 years of experience in cardiac surgery, including 12 years exclusively dedicated to congenital cardiac surgery. Over his career, he has successfully performed over 2,000 complex congenital heart surgeries, ranging from neonatal procedures to advanced corrective operations.

He holds the distinction of being the first surgeon in India to perform a successful Starnes operation on a 1-kg neonate, marking a milestone in the field of pediatric cardiac surgery. At Aster MIMS Calicut, he has pioneered the Norwood program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome in North Kerala, bringing advanced surgical solutions closer to children in the region.

Dr Warrier’s expertise covers a wide spectrum of congenital and pediatric heart surgeries, including single ventricle repair, complex valve surgeries, and pediatric cardiac transplantation. Alongside his clinical work, he is deeply involved in training future specialists — mentoring Fellows of the National Board in Pediatric Cardiology, perfusion interns, and nursing teams in the care of congenital cardiac patients. He also serves as an Examiner for B.Sc. Perfusion Technology since 2021.

With extensive international training at leading global institutions — including the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (USA), Texas Children’s Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine (USA), and Starship Children’s Hospital, New Zealand — Dr. Warrier combines world-class surgical expertise with compassionate, patient-centered care.

He has served as Consultant Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Apollo Health City, Hyderabad (2009–2018), where he independently performed over 1,000 congenital heart surgeries and played a key role in academic training programs. His global and national contributions include faculty positions, research, publications in reputed journals, and participation in prestigious cardiac surgery conferences.

Currently, Dr Girish Warrier continues to lead advancements in pediatric cardiac care in Kerala, ensuring that children born with complex heart conditions receive the highest standard of surgical excellence and post-operative care.
