Dr Rainer is a distinguished Consultant Cardiac Anaesthesiologist at the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS), Aster MIMS Calicut, with extensive experience in providing safe and advanced anaesthesia care for complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries. He brings a wealth of knowledge and clinical expertise to every patient he treats, ensuring optimal perioperative outcomes and personalized care.
He completed his MBBS, followed by a Diploma in Anaesthesia (DA) and DNB in Anaesthesia, and further specialized through fellowships in Regional Anaesthesia, Neuro and Orthopaedic Anaesthesia, and a Post-Doctoral Certificate in Cardiac Anaesthesia (PDCC). Over the years, Dr Rainer has honed his skills in managing patients with varying levels of surgical risk, from routine procedures to high-risk cardiac interventions.
Dr Rainer began his career as an Emergency Medical Officer at CMC&H Ludhiana, gaining hands-on experience in managing acute medical and trauma emergencies. He further trained as a Senior Resident at CMC Ludhiana and KG Hospital, where he focused on advanced anaesthesia techniques and perioperative care. He also served as a Junior Consultant at Meitra Hospital, contributing to cardiac, neuro, and orthopaedic anaesthesia services. Currently, he serves as a Consultant in Cardiac Anaesthesia at Aster MIMS Calicut, where he collaborates closely with cardiac surgeons to ensure precise anaesthesia management for procedures such as bypass surgery, valve replacement, minimally invasive cardiac procedures, and other complex CTVS surgeries.
A particular area of expertise for Dr Rainer is regional anaesthesia, including ultrasound-guided nerve blocks, which provide enhanced pain control, reduced postoperative complications, and faster recovery for patients. His compassionate approach, combined with meticulous attention to detail and evidence-based practices, has earned him a reputation as one of the leading cardiac anaesthesiologists in Kerala.
