Dr. Sanket Solanki is a highly trained Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) and Liver Transplant Surgeon who treats a wide range of conditions affecting the liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. His expertise includes liver transplants for both adults and children, surgery to remove liver tumours (including in patients with cirrhosis), and procedures for pancreatic tumours and pancreatitis. He also treats bile duct injuries and blockages, gallbladder cancer, and complex gallstone disease using minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques. He trained at some of India's busiest liver transplant centres and has also studied advanced transplant techniques in the United States.
He completed his MBBS and M.S. in General Suregry in Ahmedabad, then went on to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, one of India's leading centres for liver and digestive system surgery for further specialist training. He later completed a fellowship in liver and transplant surgery at Aster CMI Hospital, Bangalore, and most recently spent time at the University of Maryland Medical Center in the USA, learning newer approaches to organ transplantation.
His transplant experience includes both adult and paediatric liver transplantation, living-donor liver transplantation and deceased-donor transplantation, including the use of machine perfusion. He is also trained in newer approaches such as donation after circulatory death (DCD) transplantation.
Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. Solanki is actively involved in research and academic medicine. He has published research in liver transplantation and HPB surgery in peer-reviewed journals and has presented his work at national and international forums, including ILTS, APHPBA, LTSICON and the IHPBA Liver Summit. His research includes liver regeneration after transplantation, complex liver surgery and innovative approaches to transplant surgery.
