In observance of World Head and Neck Cancer Day, the Centre of Excellence in Head & Neck Surgery and Oncology at the Aster International Institute of Oncology (AIIO), Aster Medcity, organized "Uyare – Together We Rise," a meaningful community event dedicated to celebrating courage, resilience, and hope among head and neck cancer survivors.
The event brought together survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and members of the community to foster awareness, encourage early detection, and emphasize the importance of comprehensive cancer care. The programme highlighted inspiring survivor stories and reinforced the message that timely diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment, and emotional support play a vital role in improving outcomes for patients.
Marking a significant milestone, Aster Medcity also inaugurated AAVAZ (Advanced Centre for Airway, Voice and Swallowing), a dedicated centre focused on providing advanced multidisciplinary care for patients with airway, voice, and swallowing disorders. The launch underscores the hospital's continued commitment to delivering specialized and holistic care.
Adding a creative and emotional dimension to the event, an art exhibition featuring paintings created by head and neck cancer survivors was also organised. The exhibition beautifully reflected the journeys of strength, resilience, and hope, offering visitors a powerful glimpse into the healing experiences of the survivors through art.
The event was graced by Sri. T. J. Vinod, MLA – Ernakulam, as the Chief Guest, and featured a special musical session by Sri. Jakes Bejoy, renowned music director, whose performance added warmth and inspiration to the celebration.
Through 'Uyare – Together We Rise', Aster Medcity reaffirmed its commitment to advancing awareness, supporting cancer survivors, and delivering compassionate, patient-centred oncology care. The event served as a powerful reminder that healing extends beyond treatment and is strengthened through community, connection, and hope.
