Aster MIMS recently organised a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program on updates in Arthroplasty which is the field of surgical reconstruction or replacement of a joint. Held under the aegis of the Calicut Orthopaedic Society, a unique feature of this CME was the live streaming of a surgery involving arthroplasty on a severe osteoarthritic knee joint. The CME focused on new developments and advancements in the field of arthroplasty including advanced technologies and knee prosthesis. The CME was attended by orthopaedic surgeons and members of the orthopaedic and allied health industries.

After the live streaming of the surgery by Dr. Prince Shahnavas Khan, Consultant Orthopaedics, Aster MIMS and Organising Secretary of the CME, the various sessions of the CME commenced in which leading specialists from across the state shared their thoughts and knowledge on recent advancements in the Arthroplasty.

Dr. Suresh Pillai, Senior Consultant, Ortho and Spine surgery and Organising President of the CME said, “The CME helped to widen the perspectives of the surgeons attending the CME with topics covering Total Knee Arthroplasty to designing a new knee. It was well appreciated by the attendees and we look forward to holding many such CMEs in the future.”
