Over 220 delegates from across Kerala participated in the one-day workshop on “Advanced Practical Skills in Clinical Pharmacy Services” organized by the Department of Clinical Pharmacy at Aster MIMS. This being the first of its kind in Kerala, the workshop saw an enthusiastic response from the participants.
The practical oriented clinical pharmacy workshop, part of the CLINPHARMA SUMMIT Module-1 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. P. Vijayan, Virologist, Former Professor & HOD, Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, JSS College of Pharmacy, Ooty.
Addressing the gathered delegates, Dr. Hamza PM, Chief of Medical Services, Aster MIMS said, “This comprehensive practical workshop is focused at initiating clinical pharmacy services among healthcare providers, to render awareness on Pharmacovigilance Program of India (PvPI) and to provide an evidence-based training in clinical pharmacy services including medication management and patient education.”
The practical workshop included hands-on training on patient counseling on medications by specialists in Oncology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Paediatrics and Neonatology. As part of the programme, a poster presentation competition was held and 22 research posters were presented by the participants.
Dr. Rahul Menon, CEO, Aster MIMS said, “The CLINPHARMA SUMMIT Module-1 offers a platform to discuss challenges that need to be addressed in the real clinical pharmacy practice scenario. It also gives clinical pharmacists, students and faculties an opportunity to present their research papers. We hope to organize many such workshops in the future.”
