Aster MIMS Kasaragod further strengthened its clinical capabilities with the inauguration of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) on 18th December 2025. The facility was inaugurated by Sri. K. T. Jaleel, Honourable Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, in the presence of hospital leadership, senior clinicians, and staff members.
The newly established PICU has been designed to provide comprehensive, high-quality critical care for infants and children requiring intensive medical support. The unit is equipped with advanced life-support systems, modern ventilators, and continuous monitoring technology, enabling accurate and timely management of complex pediatric emergencies. Special emphasis has been placed on infection control, patient safety, and child-friendly care environments.
The PICU is supported by a multidisciplinary team of experienced pediatric intensivists, anesthesiologists, trained nurses, and allied healthcare professionals, ensuring round-the-clock expert care. This integrated approach allows for rapid clinical decision-making and coordinated treatment, essential for managing critically ill pediatric patients.
With the commissioning of this advanced PICU, Aster MIMS Kasaragod addresses a vital healthcare need in the region by reducing the necessity for families to travel long distances for specialized pediatric critical care.
