Dr. Urmila Soman

Dr. Urmila Soman is a highly experienced gynaecologist, with over 23 years of expertise in the field of laparoscopic gynaecological surgery. She is widely recognized for her exceptional surgical skills and compassionate approach to patient care. She obtained her MBBS degree from PSG Institute of Medical Sciences in Coimbatore, and then pursued DGO, DNB, MNAMS from Government Medical College, Kottayam. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction and Treatment of Incontinence from the National University of Medicine Seoul in South Korea, and DMAS from the prestigious KEIL School of Endoscopy in Germany, where she gained advanced knowledge and technical abilities in laparoscopic surgery.

In May 2023, she made her debut in the field of robotic gynaecological surgeries and since then, she has successfully completed 300+ robotic surgeries across the spectrum of gynaecological procedures. She has been pushing the boundaries in precision care and has performed the first Neovagina Construction in India, considered as foremost among robotic technology. Out of the box robotic surgeries includes removal of 36 weeks size uterus weighing 4.82 kg, Pelvic AV malformation correction, robotic surgery in an morbidly obese patient (135kg) etc.

Dr. Urmila Soman has performed over 10000 gynaec laparoscopic surgeries throughout her career, including all advanced procedures by minimally invasive techniques. She is also recognized for her exceptional expertise in transvaginal tape procedures for urinary stress incontinence and laparoscopic pelvic reconstructive surgeries using mesh. Dr. Urmila Soman, also serves as teaching faculty for endoscopy at Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ICOG).
