Dr. Shermila M. V. is a senior Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist at Aster MIMS Calicut with over 21 years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology. She has extensive expertise in Medical Retina, Diabetic Retinopathy management, Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), and advanced retinal treatments.

She completed her MBBS at PSG IMSR, Coimbatore, followed by a Diploma in Ophthalmology from the Government. Stanley Medical College, Chennai. She went on to pursue her DNB in Ophthalmology from Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli and later completed a prestigious Fellowship in Vitreous and Retina (Medical and Surgical) from Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai.

Dr. Shermila is skilled in a wide range of retinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), B-scan ultrasonography, barrage lasers for peripheral retinal degenerations and retinal tears, Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) treatment, Intravitreal injections, and advanced treatment for Age-related Macular Degeneration. She has vast experience in managing Diabetic Retinopathy, which is one of the leading causes of preventable blindness in Kerala.

Before joining Aster MIMS, she worked in reputed institutions, including Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli (as Medical Officer in charge of the Retina Department), SUT Trivandrum, and Vasan Eye Care, Kozhikode.
