He completed his MBBS from JN Medical College, Belagavi, followed by an MS in General Surgery from IMS-BHU, Varanasi. Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre, Ahmedabad, India's largest single specialty cardiac surgery institute. Before specializing in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, Dr. Mukunda served as an Assistant Professor in General Surgery at IMS-BHU and later worked as a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon.
