Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) is also known as bariatric surgery, this is done as a laparoscopic surgery with minimal abdominal incision. An egg sized pouch is created in the upper stomach then it is connected to small intestine, known as Roux limb. This creates a "Y" shaped connection and the intake food is then bypasses the rest of the stomach and the upper part of the small intestine. The absorption of fat, calories, minerals and vitamins are reduced by this method to help the weight loss.
