Kochi, November 11, 2018: Aster DM Healthcare, a leading integrated healthcare services provider in India and GCC, today laid the foundation of the first home under the Aster Homes initiative announced in September this year to build new houses and repair damaged houses of flood affected victims in the state. The foundation stone for the house being built for Mr. Biju in Kurumkotta Island, Cheranalloor, Ernakulam was laid by Fim star Nivin Pauly in the presence of Sri Hibi Eden, MLA and other officials. Dr. Harish Pillai, Chief Executive Officer - Aster Hospitals & Clinics, India at Aster DM Healthcare was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the people on the occasion, Sri Hibi Eden said, “It is heartening to see corporates coming forward to help rebuild the state after the natural calamity we faced. We are sure that this gesture will bolster the government’s initiatives in helping the people of Kerala get back on their feet.”
The first instalment of Rs.2.5 crore had been handed over to the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala, Sri PinarayiVijayan, towards the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund by Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of Aster DM Healthcare, and the remaining Rs.12.5 cr.is being used to build new houses and repair damaged houses of flood affected victims in Kerala.
Dr. Harish Pillai said, “The initiative is a part of our Aster Volunteers Global Programme’s effort to Rebuild Kerala which will not only provide homes to these victims but also offer hope to thousands of people who have lost everything that they possessed. While the first home is being built in Kochi, we are in the process of designing similar housing facilities for multiple victims across the state. We hope that our efforts will augment the government’s initiative to build a new and better Kerala.”
The Aster Homes initiative will support new homes being built for people who have lost their houses and own a land, cluster homes for group of people who have lost houses, retro-fitting of partially damaged homes, and also help Aster employees who have been severely impacted by the floods and landslides.
