The session was inaugurated by Shri. T P Pauly, Standing Committee Chairman, Varapuzha Panchayath and presided over by Ms. Shiny Antony, Chairperson – CDS. The welcome note and vote of thanks were delivered respectively by Ms. Aghila Jojo and Sister Linu Joseph, BSW students of Rajagiri College of Social Sciences.
Dr. Durgapoorna, Consultant Radiation Oncologist - Aster Medcity, spoke to the attendees about the need to get over the fear of cancer - which most often is the reason for late detection, the importance of early cancer detection, different types of cancers - – especially in women, watching out for symptoms, the need to seek immediate medical help and how one can win the battle against cancer with positivity and determination. Dr. Durgapoorna also stressed on the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent many types of cancers.
