DUBAI, UAE November 17, 2015: Doctors from various verticals of Aster DM Healthcare gathered over the weekend for a conference entitled: “An Update on Gastroenterology and Urology”, where they learned, shared knowledge and treatments on various medical topics such as management of Chronic Constipation, Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Pediatric Urinary Tract Infection, Diabetes and Liver, Pancreatic Diseases, Prevention of Bladder Cancer, amongst others. The panel of multi-skilled doctors and medical experts gave presentations on obesity, pediatrics, diabetes, liver disease, and bladder cancer.
The conference, organised by “Synerge” – Aster DM Healthcare’s conference organizing arm, pooled together its roster of doctors in the Middle East and India belonging to Aster Hospital and Clinics, Medcare Hospital & Clinics and MIMS Aster Medcity in India, to learn the latest developments, treatments and best practices in the healthcare industry tackling advanced treatment modalities.

Kannan (Specialist Gastroentrologist–Aster Medical Center, UAE) on ‘Management of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease’, Dr. Mrs. Foroozan Khezri (Specialist Adult and Pediatric Urologist-Medcare Hospital, UAE) on ‘Pediatric UTI’, Dr. Anish Kumar (Consultant Gastroentrologist–MIMS, India) on ‘Diabetes and Liver’, Dr. Iyoob Ali (Consultant Gastroenterologist-Aster Medcity, India) on ‘Minimally Invasive Techniques in Esophageal Surgery’, Dr. Prashant S. Nair (Specialist Urologist-Aster Medical Center, UAE) on ‘Adverse effects of TRT’, Dr. Amal Premchandra Upadhyay (Specialist Gastroentrologist–Aster Hospital UAE) on ‘ERCP in Pancreatic Disease’, Dr. Kishore T.A (Consultant Urologist-Aster Medcity India)on ‘Minimally Access Robotic Surgery (MARS)’ and Dr. Thomas Ampat Nainan (Specialist Urologist–Aster Medical Centre, UAE) on ‘Prevention of Bladder Cancer’.
Mr. Abdullah Bin Sougat, the Executive Director, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences of the Al Maktoum Foundation inaugurated the conference and shared insights and encouragement to the participants of the conference.
The conference highlighted the need to address diseases which typically causes gastroenterology and urology problems amongst patients. The doctors also learned best practices especially with new technologies such as the Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreatography (ERCP), minimally-invasive techniques in esophageal surgery and minimally- access robotic surgery used for urology cases. The session touched on on how minimally-invasive technology and best practices could revolutionize treatment and care of the pancreas, liver and kidneys - organs most affected by lifestyle-related diseases.
