The Centre for Sports Medicine at Aster Medcity was launched by Legendary Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on the 2nd of February 2017. A dedicated facility for sports medicine and rehabilitation, this centre will offer specialised services for management and prevention of sports injuries, improvement of physical fitness and enhancement of performance levels in athletes as well as non-athletes of all ages. The medical team comprising Kerala’s first MD Sports Medicine Physician, internationally trained Sports & Arthroscopic Surgeons, Behavioural Analysts, Physiotherapists and Nutritionists work with the patient throughout the course of the treatment. Multidisciplinary in approach, they provide customised treatment plans that help achieve the desired level of performance.
Shri. Sachin Tendulkar also launched ‘6 Little Masters’, a novel initiative by Aster Medcity to promote fitness in school children and nurture the sports stars of tomorrow. This project will be first implemented in Elamakkara Govt. Higher Secondary School, Ernakulam.
Commenting on the launch of the Sports Medicine Centre, Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar said, the Sports Medicine team will assess and categorise school children aged 10 -14 on the basis of their physical fitness and work towards creating a roadmap for improving their overall wellbeing, with strong focus on nutrition. A gymnasium will also be set up in the school to facilitate systematic training.
Every year, Aster Medcity will provide sports medicine and nutritional support for 6 students recommended by the School and enable them to compete at the State, National and professional levels.
The Centre For Sports Medicine & Advanced Rehabilitation at Aster MIMS, Calicut was also launched by Shri. Sachin Tendulkar earlier in the day.
