State of the art Mobile Clinic to take medical care to remote villages in Kozhikode District

Kozhikode, December 22, 2017: Aster MIMS Charitable Trust and Benny & Sherry Foundation under the aegis of St. Alphonsa palliative care charitable trust launched a state of the art Mobile Clinic that takes the modern medical care to the remote villages in the heart of Kozhikode District. This unique service was launched at the St. Thomas Parish Hall, Koorachund, Kozhikode on the 23rd of December and will serve the people of 40 remote villages in the district.

The Mobile Clinic was inaugurated by Mr. Purushan Kadalundy, MLA Baluserry. Mar. Remigiose Inchananiyil, Bishop of Thamarasserry and Chairman of St. Alphonsa Palliative Care & Charitable Trust delivered the Presidential Address. Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director, Aster DM Healthcare delivered the Keynote Address and Mr. Benny Pulikkekkara, Founder, Benny & Sherry Foundation spoke about the project. Fr. Simon Kizhakkekunnel Director, St. Alphonsa Palliative Care & Charitable Trust spoke about the vision for St. Alphonsa Palliative Care.

Speaking about the service at a press meet, Dr. Azad Moopen, Chairman and Managing Director - Aster DM Healthcare said, “Health is a fundamental human right and this Mobile Clinic is our way of ensuring that the people of remote villages of Kozhikode District get access to the same quality healthcare that is available to people in urban areas. The Mobile Clinic will help ensure early diagnosis as well as treatment of medical conditions to ensure long term health for the people of these villages.”

Providing the details of the Mobile Clinic, Dr. Azad Moopen said, “The Mobile Clinic will visit 40 villages every month. The Mobile Clinic has been designed to include an Examination Room, 2 Out Patient Rooms and a Patient Waiting Area. The Clinic will hold Medical Camps in two locations daily with experienced physicians, nursing staff, lab technicians and supporting staff. The camp will also provide some free medical services and have facilities including Physician’s consultation supported by laboratory, pharmacy and Blood Pressure check.”

A Mega Medical Camp and a Cancer Awareness Programme was conducted during the launch of the Mobile Clinic, as part of the Cancer detection Project. Mr. Babu Parassery, President, District Panchayat, Kozhikode inaugurated the Mega Medical Camp and Mrs. Vincy Thomas, President, Koorachund Grama Panchayat inaugurated the Cancer detection Project.
