Aster MIMS Kasaragod was formally inaugurated on 2nd October 2025 by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, marking a historic milestone in the healthcare landscape of Northern Kerala. The inauguration ceremony was held in the esteemed presence of Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao, Honourable Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Karnataka, and Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare.
The Honourable Chief Minister officially inaugurated the hospital by lighting the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the beginning of a new era of advanced healthcare for the region, while Shri Dinesh Gundu Rao unveiled the commemorative stone slab. The event reflected strong inter-state cooperation and a shared commitment towards improving healthcare accessibility in border regions of Kerala and Karnataka.
After years of limited access to advanced tertiary care facilities, the people of Kasaragod and surrounding areas were welcomed into a fully equipped, world-class healthcare institution, combining global medical standards with compassionate care. Aster MIMS Kasaragod stands as a beacon of hope, delivering comprehensive healthcare with a strong human touch.
Commissioned with an investment of ₹190 crore, Aster MIMS Kasaragod is a 264-bed tertiary care hospital spread across 2.1 lakh square feet, offering services across 31 medical specialities. The hospital significantly strengthens Aster DM Healthcare’s footprint in Kerala, becoming its eighth hospital in the state, and reinforces the group’s long-standing commitment to strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Azad Moopen highlighted that the hospital brings advanced medical technologies, comprehensive specialities, and expert clinical care closer to the people of Northern Kerala. The project has also generated over 600 employment opportunities and is supported by a dedicated team of nearly 60 globally trained doctors, ensuring high standards of clinical excellence.
Aster MIMS Kasaragod is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities, including a 1.5 Tesla MRI and a 160-slice CT scanner, positioning it as a leading diagnostic hub in the region. The hospital houses 44 ICU beds, 16 NICU beds, seven major and two minor operation theatres, along with 15 dialysis beds and seven chemotherapy beds to support comprehensive patient care.
The emergency department functions round the clock with 20 dedicated emergency beds and 24/7 ambulance services, providing rapid response for trauma, cardiac, stroke, and paediatric emergencies. Advanced critical care services such as ECMO/ECLS support and hemadsorption therapy for complex conditions, including snakebite management, further underline the hospital’s capability to deliver high-end medical care.
The inauguration of Aster MIMS Kasaragod stands as a landmark moment, not only for Aster DM Healthcare but also for the people of Kasaragod and neighbouring regions, ushering in a new chapter of accessible, advanced, and compassionate healthcare.
