Dr. Nidheesh Sankar V
Senior Consultant - Psychiatric Medicine
Dr Nidheesh Sankar V is an experienced and compassionate psychiatrist with over 14 years of experience in mental healthcare. As the first psychiatrist to join Aster MIMS Kottakkal, he played an instrumental role in establishing and developing the hospital’s Psychiatry Department.
He completed his MBBS, followed by a Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM) from a medical college affiliated with the Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). He also received advanced training in Emergency Psychiatry, General Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Neurology at NIMHANS, Bengaluru.
Dr Nidheesh has experience in postgraduate teaching and currently serves as a clinical supervisor for students pursuing UK-based postgraduate programmes in Medicine. He is a recognised speaker on mental health, parenting and psychiatric care and has delivered presentations at state-level and international conferences, as well as at various IMA branches across Kerala.
He has authored peer-reviewed publications in national and international medical journals, including the Asian Journal of Psychiatry and other PubMed-indexed journals. He also participated as Guest Faculty at the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting 2024 in New York City.
Known for his empathetic and patient-centred approach, Dr Nidheesh provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, treatment, psychotherapy and counselling for individuals across different age groups.
