Aster Medcity, Kochi has launched a Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Support Group for Parkinson’s patients. DBS is a neurosurgical procedure involving placement of neurostimulator for the treatment of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease.The DBS Support Group, inaugurated by Nanda Kumar, the first patient to undergo DBS procedure at Aster Medcity five years ago, will facilitate counselling to patients and relatives, according to the hospital. Moreover, the group will address all the doubts and apprehensions related to DBS therapy. It will guide the patients on things that should be avoided and followed after the therapy.
