Dr. Sujith V Nayanar is a renowned Cataract, Anterior Segment and Corneal Transplant Surgeon, and LASIK & Refractive Surgeon (including ICL/Phakic IOL), currently serving as a Senior Consultant at Aster MIMS Calicut – one of the best eye hospitals in Kerala. With over 15 years of experience in ophthalmology, he is widely recognized for his expertise in advanced cataract surgeries, complex anterior segment procedures, modern corneal transplantation techniques, and refractive surgeries that help patients achieve spectacle-free vision.
Dr. Sujith has the distinction of being the first surgeon in Kerala to perform artificial cornea implantation surgery. His surgical skills cover a wide range of treatments including phacoemulsification with advanced IOLs, limbal stem cell transplantation, DALK, DSEK, DMEK, keratoprosthesis, corneal collagen crosslinking, intrastromal corneal ring implantation, LASIK, PRK, and ICL/Phakic IOL implantation. He also has advanced training in medical and surgical management of glaucoma and anterior segment diseases.
Academically accomplished, Dr. Sujith completed his MBBS from Calicut Medical College, MD Ophthalmology from AIIMS New Delhi, FRCS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, DNB in Ophthalmology, and FICO from the International Council of Ophthalmology, UK. He pursued an ICO Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at Helsinki University and underwent specialized training in ocular surface diseases at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, USA.
He has published more than 10 research articles in international peer-reviewed journals, co-authored book chapters, and contributed to postgraduate ophthalmology textbooks. Before joining Aster MIMS, he worked at leading institutes, including AIIMS New Delhi and Vasan Eye Care Hospital.
