As part of the Kozhikode District Administration’s ‘Soukhya’ project, Aster MIMS Calicut distributed free Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) patches to 250 children affected by Type-1 diabetes. The initiative was jointly organized by the Aster MIMS Charitable Trust and Aster Volunteers to support advanced pediatric diabetes care in North Kerala.
The distribution was inaugurated by Kozhikode District Collector Snehal Kumar IAS, who appreciated the hospital’s efforts in supporting children with Type-1 diabetes through advanced glucose monitoring technology.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Gopinath Mambillikkalam, COO, Aster MIMS Calicut, said the initiative is part of the hospital’s 25th anniversary community welfare projects. He explained that CGM patches help children monitor blood glucose levels continuously without repeated needle pricks, making diabetes management easier and more comfortable.
An awareness session on the proper use and benefits of CGM devices was also conducted for children and parents by Dr. Suresh Kumar, Head of Pediatrics, and Dr. Dhanya, Pediatric Endocrinologist at Aster MIMS Calicut.
The program was attended by hospital officials, DIET representatives, members of the Type One Diabetic Welfare Society, beneficiaries, and parents.
