In a landmark achievement for Indian healthcare, Aster MIMS Kozhikode has emerged as the only center in India to successfully complete 3,000 thyroid pinhole procedures, setting a new benchmark in advanced thyroid care and minimally invasive thyroid treatment in Kerala.
The milestone highlights the hospital’s expertise in scar-free thyroid treatment, thyroid nodule ablation, and advanced Interventional Radiology procedures, offering patients a safe and effective alternative to conventional thyroid surgery. To celebrate the achievement, the hospital organized a special gathering of successfully treated patients and honored the medical team behind the milestone.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Gopinath Mampallikkalam, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Aster MIMS Kozhikode. Speaking at the event, he emphasized the hospital’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare and advanced minimally invasive treatments to people across Kerala.
“The thyroid pinhole procedure has helped thousands of patients avoid major surgery and visible neck scars. Completing 3,000 successful procedures is a proud achievement for Aster MIMS Kozhikode and reflects the trust patients from Calicut, North Kerala, and across the state have placed in us,” he said.
The thyroid pinhole procedure is an advanced image-guided minimally invasive treatment used to treat thyroid nodules and thyroid tumors without open surgery. Using a specialized needle under imaging guidance, the treatment helps patients avoid hospitalization, surgical scars, and prolonged recovery, making it one of the most preferred options for non-surgical thyroid treatment in Kerala.
A major driving force behind this achievement is Dr. Mohammed Rafeeque P K, renowned Neuro and Body Interventionist at Aster MIMS Kozhikode, who is currently performing one of the highest numbers of thyroid pinhole procedures in India. He is widely recognized for pioneering advanced image-guided minimally invasive procedures and thyroid ablation treatments in Kerala. Dr. Rafeeque is also known for introducing highly precise 3D navigation-assisted interventions that ensure scar-free treatment, faster recovery, minimal discomfort, and improved outcomes for patients.
Patients who attended the event shared that the thyroid pinhole treatment enabled them to quickly return to their normal lives without cosmetic concerns or post-surgical complications. Patients from different parts of Kerala, including Thiruvananthapuram and Alappuzha, travelled to Kozhikode to participate in the event and express their gratitude.
