Aster MIMS Hospital Kottakkal has achieved a significant milestone in advanced cardiac care in Kerala with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Makoto™ Intravascular Imaging System, becoming the first hospital in North Kerala to introduce this cutting-edge cardiac imaging technology.
The Makoto™ system, integrated with Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (NIRS) and the Dualpro™ IVUS + NIRS Catheter, enables highly precise intravascular imaging for detailed assessment of coronary artery disease (CAD). This advanced heart imaging technology helps cardiologists accurately identify heart blocks, analyse plaque composition, and detect high-risk plaques that may lead to heart attacks.
By combining Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS) with NIRS technology, the system provides enhanced visualisation from inside the coronary arteries, supporting better clinical decision-making during complex coronary interventions, including angioplasty and stenting procedures. This advancement significantly improves diagnostic accuracy, cardiac treatment planning, and overall patient outcomes.
The system was inaugurated by Dr Hari PS, Chief of Medical Sciences, marking another major step toward strengthening comprehensive, tertiary cardiac care services in Malappuram and North Kerala.
With this addition, Aster MIMS Hospital Kottakkal continues to reaffirm its commitment to bringing world-class cardiology services in Kerala, advanced heart care in Malappuram, and innovative cardiovascular treatment technology closer to the community.
