Nutritional management of children with diabetes is an extremely challenging task. The diet needs to be balanced in such a way that it comprises nutrition-rich food that helps age-appropriate growth and development, but also keep the blood sugar levels well I control to prevent further complications in future.
A one-day CME on Nutritional management of children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus was conducted at Aster Medcity, a leading Diabetology hospital in Kochi Kerala, on 7 May 2018. Organised jointly by the Aster Centre of Excellence in Child & Adolescent Health and IAP Kochi Branch, the CME had several experts from the field of Paediatrics, Endocrinology and Nutrition speaking about how good nutrition can help children with diabetes live a healthy, fulfilling life.
The speakers included Ms. Sheryl Salis, Senior Registered Nutritionist, Certificate Diabetes Educator and Certified Insulin Pump Trainer, Nurture Health Solutions, Mumbai; Dr. Jeeson C Unni, Senior Associate Consultant – Paediatrics; Dr. Parvathy L, Consultant - Paediatric Endocrinology and Ms. Susan Itty, Clinical Nutritionist, Aster Medcity. The event also featured insights from some of the best Diabetologists in Kochi Kerala, who shared valuable guidance on managing childhood diabetes through proper diet, monitoring, and lifestyle adjustments.
