Neuropathology is a subspeciality of anatomic pathology that has evolved rapidly over the past five decades. The advancements in this field have enabled doctors to understand of biology of brain tumours better, which translates to accurate diagnosis and effective treatment plans. The key to successful implementation of integrated diagnosis lies in multidisciplinary approach wherein Neurosurgeons, Neuroradiologists, Neuropathologists, Medical Oncologists and Radiation Oncologists work as one to ensure optimal, personalised treatment to patients.
The Centre of Excellence in Neurosciences and Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at Aster Medcity, in association with Neuropathology Society of India (NPSI) and Indian Society of Neuro-Oncology conducted a CME on Neuropathology on 26 August 2017. Named Aster Neuropathology Update 2017, this one day event featured in-depth talks, case presentations and slide-seminars on recent advancements in neuropathology and WHO 2016 classification of brain tumors.
