The relatives of a 37 year old woman from Kasaragod District who was declared brain dead following an accident have set another example donating her organs. Her organs were donated to 4 other people. Two Kidneys, Liver and Heart. All the four Organs were transported from Pariyaram Medical College and Transplanted at Aster MIMS on Monday. Aster MIMS is the first hospital in Kerala to do 4 cadaver transplants in a day with the timely interaction of Kerla Network of Organ Sharing (KNOS).
Heart was transplanted to a 27 year old male from Iringannur, Calicut. He was suffering from Dialated CardioMyopathy for the last five 10 years. The heart was harvested by CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgeon Dr Anil Jose and Transplanted by Sr. CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgeon Dr Murali P Vettath and Cardiac Anaesthetists Dr Kannan A, Dr Sanooj Dr Anirthan Roy, Dr Nithin Gangadharan and Dr Shabeer.
Liver was transplanted to a 51 yr old male from Malapuram district. Liver and Kidneys were harvested by Dr Rajesh Nambiar and Dr Rohit Raveendran and Transplanted by Dr Sajeesh Sahadevan, Dr Seethalakshmy and Transplant Anaesthetis Dr Kishore K
One Kidney was transplanted to a 25 yr old female from Koyilandy and the other to a 51 yr old female from vadakara.
Both kidneys were transplanted by Urologist Dr Krishnamohan R. Assisted by Dr Khurshid Ahmed and Dr Anil and Anesthetists Dr Biju Shekhar and Dr Bindya VM Kutty.
The Police Department in Calicut and kannur has extended maximum support in controlling the traffic from Pariyaram till Aster MIMS Calicut to bring the organs in lesser time. Mr. Sali, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Calicut instructed his staff to provide Green Corridor to transport the organs in two different ambulances. Ambulances could reach Calicut in 1 Hour and 40 minutes.
